Excalibur Commission by William Grapes

Here's a new commission piece of Excalibur by William Grapes, posted yesterday on Comic Art Fans.

The owner of this piece (Lucky Devil), had this to say...

'During the comics book boom of the early 90s, I liked the X-men, but I also liked Excalibur. Excalibur was the best written book that I was reading then .. (I didn't read Sandman) So I commissioned William Grapes to do an Excalibur piece in the spirit of Alan Davis. I am so happy to finally have a proper, perfectly executed Excalibur piece.'

Baron Blood Resurrected by Remender in All New Captain America

An interview with Rick Remender has surfaced on CBR talking about his plans for the All-New Captain America and an All-New Hydra containing none other than a newley resurrected Baron Blood.

Here's what Rick Remender had to say on Baron Blood's involvement...

CBR - 'Another member in Zemo's sect with Nazi connections is Baron Blood. Is this a new incarnation of the vampiric villain? Or has the original Nazi vampire been resurrected?'

RR - 'He's not new. He's a vampire, so we can resurrect him, right? I wanted Baron Blood back. We'll have a little bit of dialogue explaining it. With a vampire, I think I can get away with it. If it was anybody else, I think I'd have to spend an issue explaining the resurrection.'

'Baron Blood is not just there for window dressing. For the plot that Hydra is up to, they needed Baron Blood. So they've gone to great lengths to resurrect him and ensure that he's on board with their plot, and he is.'

The Fury by Mark Farbrother

Here's a sketch, involving a lot of ink and some white pencil that I drew today of The Fury. One of the best Captain Britain villains to date, in my humble opinion.

Hurricane Custom Figurine

Here's a custom figurine I finished today of an old Captain Britain foe, who first appeared way back in issue #3 in 1976. His first cover appearance was on the cover of the following issue. A character that could have been so much more in the world of Captain Britain, but alas it wasn't to be.

This figurine measures a mere 98mm in height from base to head.

Albert Potter was the first Hurricane.

Albert was a meteorologist who studied how to deactivate hurricanes. He failed many times and soon was fired from his job. He took his machine that deactivated hurricanes and tried to release it into one. The machine backfired and engulfed Albert in its energy. The Nethergods rebuilt Albert into a weapon to use against Captain Britain, pawn of their foe Merlyn. He soon became Hurricane.

Albert has increased strength, stamina, agility and intellect. He made a battlesuit that protects him from mostly all forms of conventional injury. The suit also allows him to generate both extremely high velocity winds [strong enough to become hurricanes] and force blasts. He has the ability to fly at speeds of 200 mph, if not greater.

His suit allows him to generate other weather controlling effects such as generating lightning and hail. He could also absorb energy based blast and project them as well. Albert also possessed some mind-control abilities.

Here's a photo of my current Captain Britain figurine collection.

Time Runs Out Captain Britain Art

This piece of art has been around for a week. I first spotted it on the Avengers UK Facebook Web-Comic page. It's a fantastic piece of art by Alan Davis for the cover of New Avengers issue 30 which shows the decimation of the Captain Britain Corps. It all ties in to the 'Time Runs Out' story by Marvel, which has propelled the good Captain to the front, rightly so, along with the usual major players.

It's been said by many that Marvel are rebooting everything, hence this apocalyptic storyline which seems to be the end of everything. If that's what is going to happen, then please, please, please don't follow the DC's 'New 52', which ruined a lot of it's characters, and washed away a lot of years of comic history in the blink of an eye.

There's lots of villains and heroes that could return from the grave, I'm sure we've all got ones we could pick, but I must admit this doesn't sit well with me.

Hopefully when the dust has settled Captain Britain will be a major character, and not return to his usual status as a bit character.
