Betsy Braddock by Mark Farbrother

I decided to pick up the pencils again today, and have a go at drawing Betsy Braddock, Captain Britain's sister, before the whole Psylocke body swap episode. I've used Uni-pens, white Signo ink, and a Sharpie.

Very Impressive Betsy Braddock Custom Statue

This custom statue of Betsy in her armoured costume definitely deserves an 'OMG!' This is a beautiful piece of sculpting, and painting. If money was no object I'd commission a Meggan, another Betsy, a Spitfire... hell I'd be broke with the amount of UK characters I'd want.

'The Bowen Black Widow statue is the base for this piece. Her head was swapped out and repositioned. The cowl and armor are sculpted directly onto the statue. The cloak is an original sculpt and is cold cast in marble. It features a magnetic peg and is removable.'

Captain Britain Bursting from the Pages...

The term 'Bursting from the pages' is often used, to dramatic affect, especially in comics, and it seems that our good Captain Britain has literally burst forth from a few comic covers himself. I noticed the following covers from various comics he's been in over the years.

Cool Cover Art: Knights of Pendragon #6

The Knights of Pendragon issue #6 released December 1990. Cover art provided by Simon Bisley featuring the good Captain in his third uniform. This is just pure 'Wow!'. Bisley is known for his art on 2000AD strips such as ABC Warriors, Slaine, and Judge Dredd, plus much, much more. You should check out his 'Judgement on Gotham' graphic novel, which pits Batman against Judge Dredd, phenomenal art.

Avengers UK Story Book Annual

I first discovered the world of Marvel reading Marvel UK comics, which consisted mainly of reprints of the original American releases, Hulk Comic, Spider-Man etc. This eventually lead me to discover the joy of a specialist comic shop, such as 'Forever People' which used to sit on Park Street in Bristol, where I would buy all my comics, alas it is no more.

The American releases were great, and very exciting, but they felt different to the UK releases which would contain some gems written for the British Public only, such as Captain Britain, and Night Raven to name a few. One thing which the Brits were very good at was releasing annuals, or summer specials, which would contain short stories, which would sometimes contain reprints, and sometimes not.

This tradition alas like all good things came to an end, of sorts, but never fear the guys at 'Avengers UK' have reinstated this tradition and produced a fantastic Story Book Annual, released a few days before Christmas day.

This is a free online (Facebook) comic, created with love, to provide those that mourn the lack of British interaction in the current Marvel universe. The guys that create this, and there are many contributors do so in their own time, not for money, but because they want to, because they have a passion for all things Marvel UK.

Contained within, are comic strips, book-format stories, artwork, and even a crossword, plus much more featuring everyone's favourite Marvel UK heroes. Check it out, it'll be the best non-money you'll spend in a while.

Union Jack on the Variant Cover of Contest of Champions #4

Contest of Champions #4 is released 6th January 2016. The variant cover features our very own Union Jack fighting alongside The Falcon, Black Panther, and Torpedo, trying to possibly subdue Fing Fang Foom, not sure who the artist is. Quite a strange mix of characters to feature together, seeing as the content of the comic revolves around Elektra and Stick.
